Wow, it has really been awhile since I posted. But, I AM BACK! I honestly don't know if I'll be able to post daily, but I'm at least hoping to post a little more regularly, especially with all that may be happening in the next couple of months. Here's my confession - since the middle of July I've been working a "day job" again. That is why I haven't been posting as many new yarns, why I haven't been blogging and in general just haven't been "around" as much. But, for many reasons I rather not go into right now, I have QUIT that job and now will be able to devote my full attention to getting ready for my November shows. This is the perfect time since I do have my two most-favorite shows of the year this month - DIY Trunk Show in Chicago and Art vs Craft in Milwaukee. I am determined to have lots of new yarns and new knits for both of these shows! This means I'll be spinning and knitting like crazy over the next few weeks and I will be listing at least ONE NEW YARN EVERY DAY in my etsy shop. Due to time constraints, I may not list *everything* I spin, but yarns not sold at the shows will all be listed by the end of the month.
The other news, which is NOT 100% quite yet, but about 99.99999999999% sure is that we are MOVING. Not just moving to a new apartment but to a NEW CITY. And a NEW STATE. This is going to be happening within the next few months, which is the main reason I quit the job. More on this as things progress . . . but I won't be TOO far away from where we are now, which means I'll still be able to do my "normal" shows in both Wisconsin and Illinois.
For now, it's back to my old (wonderful) routine of daily spinning and listing yarns. Today, I spun 9 new yarns! Some were for possible custom requests, but several will be listed tomorrow, including 3 new art yarn skeins. In the meantime, though, I wanted to catch up with the new yarns that I have listed lately - these are skeins spun in the past few weeks that are new and still available -
Here are direct links to each listing in my etsy shop -

Kitty Singles - Marchengarten - Hand Spun Single Ply Wool Yarn
Kitty Singles - Berry Crush - Hand Spun Single Ply Yarn
Kitty Singles - Italo - Hand Spun Single Ply Yarn
Kitty Singles - Cormorant - Hand Spun Single Ply Yarn
I think that's all for now, but should have more new yarns for Sunday!
I've listed a few new yarns recently . . . two art yarn skeins today and 2 bamboo skeins yesterday. Very opposite yarns - the art yarn is very bright and cheery in shades of bright pink and peachy coral, and the bamboo is the most gorgeous deep plum/purple! Here is a mosaic of them, and you can find them in my etsy shop HERE.
I
also finally spun a two-ply recently! I do like how the twoplys turn
out, but since they take me so much longer than all of my other yarns,
I don't spin them very often. But, I had this custom-color dyed by the
Yarn Wench in merino wool, and thought it'd look good as 2ply. The
colors were hard to capture, but here are the two skeins -
You can find them in my etsy shop HERE and HERE.
I'm getting ready for Wisconsin Sheep & Wool, which is in a couple of weeks, so I may not be listing much or posting here, but I AM spinning and will have new yarns available there and then will list what doesn't sell after the show. Lots going on right now and one of these days I'll blog about it all . . .
I have listed three new single ply yarns on etsy today, along with two 2-ply skeins from yesterday. Here is a mosaic of the new yarns -
I'll
be doing my second destash post later tonight. It will mostly include
2-4 oz batches of locks of various fibers and a few with some buttons,
angelina, and other embellishments.
So, I am once again having an issue with kittygrrlz.com - while I try and figure that out you can always find my items on etsy - Kitty Grrlz Hand Spun Yarns on etsy and Kitty Grrlz Hand Knits on etsy
In other news - I have some new yarns! Actually, lots of them, including some new bamboo colors, all of which can be found on etsy. Here are just a couple of the new ones that aren't bamboo -
October at Midnight

FunctionArt - PlumBerryCrush Redux
And, a rare two-ply - Night Prism

Then,
there are the red yarns! I had a request for a red art yarn, and ended
up spinning 2 more of them - all from carded batts of fiber.
Vampire Night - spun from a Loop Spontaneous Spinning batt -
and, Love Hurts Redux, spun from "sexy" batt from feltstudiouk -
It was another late night last night (or early morning, depending on how you look at it!) but I did get 5 yarns spun yesterday! Those should be listed later today . . .
This post will be for the yarns from Monday - two Batt-tacular! Singles spun from Spontaneous Spinning batts from LOOP. The first is "Dazzling Dusk" - 150 yards, 4.1 oz, DK weight -
And,
the second is "Pretty in Pinkish" - 100 yards, 3.4 oz, more worsted
weight and slightly thick n thin. I also have 10 yards of an art yarn
for this one since that is what I was originally going to spin with the
batt - but it has a lot of bamboo in it and I prefer not to spin bamboo
into art yarns - anyways, here it is -
I also finished this two-ply spun from the Chocolate Liqueur bamboo batts (also from Loop). This one is for a custom spin -
And, also these coils, which I think will also be for a special request -
Today,
I've got some more coils to do and I think I'll be spinning another
"Squish-tastic!" 2ply, this time with a merino/tencel blend as the thin
ply. I've got 5 yarns to photograph and list - all but one are
"Batt-tacular!" yarns, plied with thread and spun from various batts
from TerraBellaSpun and one from FeltStudioUK. The fifth yarn is a single ply of the Chocolate Liqueur batt!
I think that's all for now!
One thing you may notice is the fact that there are some colors I return to over and over again . . . Pine Forest happens to be one of them. I first spun this colorway into two art yarns. Then, recently, into some single plys. And, now, here it is in yet another form -
This
is a thick/thin super squishy 2ply! One ply is a thick/thin merino and
the other is a thin merino/silk. I also have a mini skein of it, too -
And,
since I always have extra of the thin merino/silk strand, I also have a
small 85-yard skein of the merino/silk Navajo plied!
Last
night, I did another of the bulky thick/thin 2plys in the "Meridian"
colorway! I didn't get the Navajo 3ply done, but I did get a large 120
yard skein of the 2ply spun up - it should be listed later today!
Tonight, I finish the Navajo 3ply and then it is back to the bamboo! I have some more to spin for a possible buyer this weekend at the CRAFTACULAR (at the High Noon Saloon in Madison, Wisconsin - Saturday, June 28, 10am-4pm!) and then also wanted to get a couple more skeins spun up for the show in general.
In other news, I have 3 days left of my job . . . . . it's just . . . weird. But, I will definitely love having more time to spin!!
That's all from me for now!
Here are just a few pictures from the new yarns I spun up over the weekend (more coming this afternoon, too!) Clicking on the pictures should take you to the Etsy Listing.
Vegas, baby! Hand Spun Two-Ply bamboo yarn spun from two of LOOP's "Chocolate Liqueur" batts.
Then,
there is "Radioactive Chance" - after working on the two-ply most of
Saturday, I decided to ignore my to-do list, my to-spin list, and all
the already-prepped fiber, and spin this. It's just . . . different
from my normal colors so thought I'd take a chance on it . . .

Three new single plys - all from Falkland wool dyed by the Yarn Wench.
Orchid Sunset 2
And,
finally, another skein of Mahogany Midnight Moon as an art yarn. I love
this colorway! I have about 2 oz left of it but am not sure if I want
to do another art yarn skein, or a coordinating CoilySpun skein!
And,
I'll probably be mentioning this every day this week - but if you are
in the Madison, Wisconsin are this SATURDAY, JUNE 28 - come by the HIGH
NOON SALOON for the SUMMER CRAFTACULAR! I will be there, along with many other great hand made vendors. Hours are from 10am-4pm.
That's all from me for today!
So, I didn't get a chance to share yesterday, but before I get to the new yarn pictures, I found out on Tuesday (Earth Day!) that I was featured on JenVecc's blog! You can check it out here! Yay!
On to the new bamboo . . .
Another two-ply, this time in colorway "Stormy Night" - 258 yards total!

And, one of my favorite-est colorways, Chocolate Berry Shine - two skeins of single ply:
And, I did get one skein of "Violets R Blue" listed, too!
And, just a sneak peak at what will be listed later today:
More "Aqua Lime Explosion"!

And, a "Rocky Roads" coily yarn spun from a wonderfully soft alpaca/merino/mohair blend! This fiber is from NorthStarAlpacas! Very soft!

That's all I have time for today! Hopefully will have more time tomorrow!
where did Monday go?? ;)
Well, I meant to post yesterday with some new yarns but I just didn't get a chance. This morning I want to quick post some pics, starting with this one . . .
I
love this picture . . . I don't usually like my pictures and I have
been struggling with improving them for my etsy listings. But, I took
this one yesterday and for some reason - I just really like it!! These
were yarns that I spun up on Sunday. Yes, it was a busy spinning
weekend and I loved it! I also spun 4 skeins on Saturday - but they all
sold right away! I was so happy. Sunday was actually the best sales day
I think I have ever had! THANK YOU to all of my wonderful customers!!!
Even though they sold, here is a peak at the yarns from Saturday:
yes,
that is more "Plum Grove" . . . I love this color. I have said I won't
do anymore . . . but I do have some fiber that is similarly colored -
but much more "bright" - the green is such a bright (almost neon) green
and the purple just *pops*! I can't wait to spin it but am waiting just
a little bit - I have novelty yarns coming from multiple sources and
would like to change it up and include some *different* novelties that
are the brighter, more vivid colors to match the wool. But, I am
rambling . . .
The other two in the picture were supposed to be my EtsyFAST
March challenge entries, the theme of which is "Fairy Tales". I called
the skeins "Irish Fairy Tale" as I thought it would also fit in with
St. Patrick's Day in March. Here are closer pics of them:

But,
enough about yarns that are no longer available . . .how about some NEW
yarns?? Here are the ones from Sunday, all of which are now on etsy (and will be up on my website soon).
First,
are the "Strawberry Cheesecake" and "Strawberry Shortcake" bulky 2-ply
skeins. I've been wanting to try this for awhile - spin a thick/thin
merino wool single and then ply it with a thinner spun merino/silk
single for sort of a "squishy" almost-boucle style thick/thin bulky two
ply. Naomi tried it with just two differently spun strands of merino, and it turned out squish-a-licious! Here is her "Andromeda":
So,
this was my plan, but with the thinner strand being merino/silk. Here
is the larger skein, 88 yards, "Strawberry Cheesecake":
And, the smaller, 56 yards, "Strawberry Shortcake":
And, since I had some remaining merino/silk, I Navajo-plied it for this small, mini skein of 54 yards of Navajo 3-ply:
I love how the merino/silk looks spun up like this and think I will have to do more! I have a couple other colorways from the Yarn Wench in this merino/silk blend . . .
Then,
there was something bright and fun - and sooo soft! These two skeins
were spun from superwash merino wool (dyed by the Yarn Wench, of
course!) and I spun in some bright orange, some lighter purple and one
blue yarn - then plied with purple and orange thread. These skeins are
seriously so soft and silky!
So, that was my weekend! Lots and lots of spinning . . .
And,
I tried to keep the momentum going last night - here is a sneak peak at
the new yarns that will be listed later today. Two skeins. Both spun
from merino wool with novelty yarns spun in and plied with variegated
thread.
Okay, that's all I have time for this morning! :)
So, quite awhile ago now I spun up some yarn for a friend. It was a worsted weight 2ply spun from Falkland wool dyed by the Yarn Wench, color called "My Bleeding Heart". My friend knit a scarf from it, and I thought I would post some pictures of it!
