Here are just a few pictures from the new yarns I spun up over the weekend (more coming this afternoon, too!) Clicking on the pictures should take you to the Etsy Listing.
Vegas, baby! Hand Spun Two-Ply bamboo yarn spun from two of LOOP's "Chocolate Liqueur" batts.
Then,
there is "Radioactive Chance" - after working on the two-ply most of
Saturday, I decided to ignore my to-do list, my to-spin list, and all
the already-prepped fiber, and spin this. It's just . . . different
from my normal colors so thought I'd take a chance on it . . .

Three new single plys - all from Falkland wool dyed by the Yarn Wench.
Orchid Sunset 2
And,
finally, another skein of Mahogany Midnight Moon as an art yarn. I love
this colorway! I have about 2 oz left of it but am not sure if I want
to do another art yarn skein, or a coordinating CoilySpun skein!
And,
I'll probably be mentioning this every day this week - but if you are
in the Madison, Wisconsin are this SATURDAY, JUNE 28 - come by the HIGH
NOON SALOON for the SUMMER CRAFTACULAR! I will be there, along with many other great hand made vendors. Hours are from 10am-4pm.
That's all from me for today!
So, I haven't been online as much lately, but oh, I HAVE been spinning! Lots and lots of new yarns, though some have sold, and more are coming! Here are the latest -
Beautiful Bamboo - Summer Neon Taffy - Two skeins available here and here or click on the picture below.
FunctionArt
- Pink Lemonade - a smaller art yarn skein spun from merino wool with
novelty yarns/fibers spun in and plied with thread. Sort of coordinates
with the Novel-Ply "Citrus Sun" and I do also plan on having two more
skeins in brighter shades of orange, yellow, and pink.

FunctionArt/Batt-tacular! - Aqua Splash! - spun from a carded batt from TerraBellaSpun.

This single ply yarn was spun by me from a blended fiber batt from ButterflyGirlDesigns.
It is 67% bamboo, 25% merino wool, and 8% nylon firestar. She called it
"The Curtain Dress" inspired by the dress Scarlett O'Hara made from
curtains in Gone with the Wind. It is beautiful intense shades of teal,
gold, and black.
Kitty Singles - Vintage Spring - hand dyed Falkland wool dyed by the Yarn Wench, spun by me.
And, another FunctionArt/Batt-tacular yarn, spun from a carded fiber batt from FeltStudioUK.
And,
more bamboo! This is a new color, "Seashore" . . . I'm calling it
Seashells by the Seashore, just because I like the ring to it! I have
two skeins available here and here, or click on the picture below.
And,
one more FunctionArt/Batt-tacular! yarn - spun from the "Sexy" batt
from FeltStudioUK. I just LOVE the colors in this one! Wasn't sure at
first the combination would work, but . . . I think it did!
In
other news, I officially purchased health insurance today! (For when my
job ends at the end of the month.) It is just something I refused to
NOT have, so . . . even though it is costly, it will be a good thing
knowing I am covered . . .
But, dealing with things like this are really making me start to freak out a little in regards to having no job! I only have 8 days left! I haven't not had a job since . . . god, since I was like, 12?? Okay, those weren't official jobs, but I have been working for a very long time - AND I have been working in libraries since 1990!? How weird will it be not to anymore? Though, I do hope to return to a library at some point - right now I'm thinking/hoping maybe the end of the year or beginning of next . . .
Ah, but who knows. I've got to just take this one day at a time, I think.
That's all from me today!
OH! One more thing - I am taking part in the Etsy-wide YART SALE in my Kitty Grrlz Knits shop! I've got 12 items listed for very reduced prices - check them out HERE.
So, here are the new yarns that I listed yesterday -
Spring Garden bamboo
I have two skeins available - on etsy here and here!
Then, I have "Ocean Splash" - a new CoilySpun yarn - in merino wool so it is very soft & squooshy! I have more of this color of fiber so will either be doing more coils, or maybe an art yarn to coordinate with the coils -
Last
night I spun up two "Kitty Singles" and they should be listed later
today. Tonight, it may be more singles or possibly back to the bamboo.
I have two art yarns "in the works" but may hold off on those until the
end of the week. We'll see. I've been feeling sort of "random" this
week, so have just been pulling fiber out on a whim and spinning it.
I'm also hoping to get another CoilySpun yarn done soon, too.
I was also on the Etsy Front Page last night! Thanks to CuriosityKilled who put me in this gorgeous treasury. Here is just a part of it -
This weekend was supposed to be filled with spinning, but instead I was distracted by the stormy weather, and also finally gave in and organized my novelty/specialty yarns -
Now,
at least, it should be easier for me to gather yarns together for my
art yarn spins! I also moved my fiber bins - they are now stacked to
the ceiling!?
You can't really tell from these pictures, but the room does look a little more open now!
I DID get some spinning done, and should have 2 new bamboo skeins and a new CoilySpun yarn ready to list later today. Over the weekend, I did finish up a couple of custom spins, one of which was "Plum Berry Sky". This one was spun from a carded batt of fiber from FeltStudio -
I also spun up some merino wool coils -
And, finally, since I had two skeins of "Hillside Wildflowers" and the customer opted for one, I do have one skein available -
I also have two bamboo sets listed (I will have a set of Spring Garden listed later today) -
Citrus Dreams
Cotton Candy Blues -
And,
I also spun up a Navajo 3-ply bamboo skein - this one was going to be
part of a two-ply, but this batch was darker than any other I've had
before, and I just loved the colors so much, didn't want to dilute them
by plying with a lighter batch - so, I just spun it by itself into a
3ply - Dark Stormy Night -
Finally, before I go - I am running a BAMBOO SPECIAL in the month of JUNE!
**If you buy TWO or THREE skeins of bamboo yarn - you will get Free Shipping in the USA or Half Price International Shipping.
**If you buy FOUR or more skeins - you will get the shipping discount *AND* $2.50 off *each skein*!
Please see the bamboo listings in my etsy shop or website for more details! This offer will run until 12midnight CST on June 27. (I have a show June 28 and will be on vacation from June 29-July 4). Also, I have a HUGE box of bamboo fiber ready to spin - if there is a color in my sold section that you would like, there is a chance I can spin it again - please contact me for details!
I have spun up about half of the 8 pounds I received last week!! It seems to be all i AM spinning! Here are some shots of the colors still available on etsy:

Ocean Dusk - two skeins
Citrus Dreams - two skeins
Stormy Night - two skeins
Spring Garden - Light - 1 skein
and, finally, New Southwest - 1 skein
So,
yeah, I've been busy spinning up all of that bamboo fiber. I have about
3.5 pounds left! I want to spin some of them into two-plys, but will
have at least 3 more single ply colors coming soon.
But, soon, I will be doing some more coily spins and art yarn spins! I got these in the mail yesterday:
and they are just calling to me to be spun! They are Spontaneous Spinning Batts from LOOP.
It's actually a miracle I was able to snag them! The update was very
very late on Friday night and the only reason I was awake for it??? I
was spinning bamboo!!!
Yesterday I received two amazing packages - a box of approximately *8 pounds* of bamboo fiber for spinning . . . AND, a HUGE envelope packed with LOOP babycakes! Ahhh, heaven! These pictures aren't the best, but just in case you'd like to see what . . .
8 pounds of bamboo:
and, 6 batches of "babycakes":
look like . . . well, now you have! :)
What's a shame, though, is I'd love to dive right in to the babycakes, but will have to wait - the bamboo is what is in need of my attention for the next week . .. or two. My Ravelry ad *should* start running tomorrow, which means I want to have new bamboo listed every day for the next two weeks!? Not sure it will be possible, but . . . we'll see. I've also got a few art yarns I want to spin, and some more batts . . . and . . .
Never enough time!
I do have a couple new yarns to share as well. The first is another "Batt-tacular!" yarn spun from a batt of merino and superwash wools and glitz from TerraBellaSpun. Here is "Blue Copper Night" -
And, the second is "Copper Flash Sky" - a "Novel-Ply" yarn spun from handdyed merino wool and plied with Moda Dea Fur-Ever yarn.
Last
night, I spun up a bright aqua and violet FunctionArt art yarn- two
skeins from hand dyed merino wool (dyed by the Yarn Wench). I'm
thinking one skein is already spoken for, but I should have one
available to list later today. Here is a sneak peak -
I do have another batch of this fiber color, so may even spin up two more skeins!
That's all for today!
So, last night was Monday night. That means I spin to "Big Bang Theory" and "How I Met Your Mother" . . . but after that, I usually switch over to the end of "Dancing with the Stars" before heading over to ESPN or some sports stuff to leave on as background noise until I sleep . . . so . . I switch over last night and apparently had just missed some drama with one of the guys!?! Some injury, or something? Well . . . as it turned out, the best was yet to come . . . or, well . . . .
When they did the dance to the "Star Wars" music (was that last season?) I sort of thought I'd seen it all . . . but, oh no. Last night, that "Star Wars" dance was trumped by . . . .
Jason Taylor doing a Paso Doble to . . . ARE YOU READY????? . . .
the MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL THEME!?!?
Honestly, I thought it was hilarious. The dance itself was good, I guess, but I found myself totally distracted by other thoughts, like, "it's so weird to hear this much of this song" and "it's nice and all that they are in Miami Dolphin colors, but how much longer will he be a Dolphin?" and "Oh, I hope Tony and Mike talk about this on PTI tomorrow". And, "wow, they [ABC & ESPN] are taking cross-promotion to a whole new level."
Anyways, this is sort of a dis-jointed post, so let's get back on track with some NEW YARNS! :)
Here are the two bamboo single plys from yesterday - Stormy Seas. They are now listed on etsy and will be on my site very soon.
And, the yarns I was spinning while watching all that entertaining TV, more Divine Melon yarns!
These
may or not be for a special request, so they may or may not be
available later today. But, I'll be sure to post better pics tomorrow
if they are listed and available!
So, my Dad called me yesterday, we hadn't talked in awhile . . . but the main exciting news up where he lives (northern Wisconsin, near Minocqua) is that they are filming (or were, I believe they wrapped up this weekend) the new Johnny Depp movie up there - the Dillinger movie. (They are supposedly now coming down to Milwaukee and have also filmed in other locations in the state.) So, he had some stories about that and said that he shook Johnny Depp's hand!
Now, I'm not young and silly anymore, but this made we wonder, why the heck wasn't I up there trying to stalk Johnny Depp!?!? Ha ha! :) Seriously, though . . . having a major movie production going on up there has got to be pretty exciting, but given the local population means that they weren't dealing with quite the swarms of people they are used to - hundreds instead of thousands . . .
anyways, didn't ask if he got any pictures, that is a better question for my sister . . . she's the one with the camera.
in other news, the weekend wasn't quite as productive as I'd hoped, but I did get a few new bamboo yarns spun up!
Summer Neon Taffy Single Ply

Peachy Keen Taffy Two-Ply
And, finally, "Stormy Sea" - these aren't listed yet but should be this afternoon.

And,
finally, I leave you with a kitty pic - Bug tends to sleep under my
chair when I spin, but it amazes me how close she will actually rest to
my treadling feet?!?!? She was snoozing away . . .
and, then, once she realized I had the camera on her, decided to groom herself . . .
Silly Bug!
That's all for today!
So, I didn't get a chance to share yesterday, but before I get to the new yarn pictures, I found out on Tuesday (Earth Day!) that I was featured on JenVecc's blog! You can check it out here! Yay!
On to the new bamboo . . .
Another two-ply, this time in colorway "Stormy Night" - 258 yards total!

And, one of my favorite-est colorways, Chocolate Berry Shine - two skeins of single ply:
And, I did get one skein of "Violets R Blue" listed, too!
And, just a sneak peak at what will be listed later today:
More "Aqua Lime Explosion"!

And, a "Rocky Roads" coily yarn spun from a wonderfully soft alpaca/merino/mohair blend! This fiber is from NorthStarAlpacas! Very soft!

That's all I have time for today! Hopefully will have more time tomorrow!
So, this weekend was pretty great in that I spun ALOT. Saturday alone I spun *6* skeins of yarn! Yay! I love days when I can get that much done. I didn't do quite as much on Sunday, but still got some more bamboo spun up . . . . before I get to pictures of this weekend's spinning, I just want to mention that over on DancingMooney's blog, "Random Musings About Art, and Life" it is the time for here What's in the Bag? Giveaway! If you would like to win a great bag of goodies from Etsy sellers, check it out! :)
Now, on to the pictures . . .
First, the bamboo. This first yarn is another spin of bamboo two-ply, the color I've been calling "Summer Carnival". This batch was spun just a bit thinner, so it turned out to be more DK than Worsted weight. I've got 306 yards! This may or may not be a special request, but either way I do hope to have it listed soon. It was spun by me from hand dyed bamboo fiber from the FiberLady.
More
bamboo - this was actually spun up on Sunday . . . again, fiber from
FiberLady, hand dyed bamboo . . . I'm calling these "Violets R Blue",
though it was spun from her "Ocean Dusk" colorway. Again, one or both
might be spoken for already, but if not, they will be listed soon, too.
The top skein is 220 yards and the bottom is 170 - both sport weight.
Then, there were the single plys! I spun up one on Friday. This deserves a little special attention because it is my first LOOP batt! Naomi of Ryono Creations was kind enough to share one her LOOP
batts (I believe it was Sunset Spectacle). I received it on Thursday
but couldn't spin it until Friday . . . . and all I can say is . . .
WOW! It was so wonderful to spin, I think it was the alpaca in it that
made it such a smooth spin, and the recycled silk added texture and
color, plus the merino wool . . . just, well, it was so great I could
resist no longer and joined her "Spontaneous Spinning Club"
- one "Spontaneous Spinning Batt" a month for the next 6 months! I
can't wait for my first one! Anyways, here is a picture of the single
ply yarn - I'm calling it "Sunset Wish" and it is now listed on etsy and my website. It is 130 yards, mostly DK weight with some thicker sections and very soft!
Then, on Saturday, I did spin up two more single ply yarns from hand dyed Falkland wool, dyed by the Yarn Wench.
The first is "Strawberry Mocha Creme" (from the roving of the same
name) and it is 165 yards of DK weight yarn. I just love these colors
and actually spun up some bamboo in similar colors last night!
"Golden Peacock" is 155 yards of DK weight as well, spun from the colorway "Titian".
I
also spun up some more "Eye Candy"! I had been planning on spinning up
the last batch of fiber I had in this colorway, but got an extra
incentive when I had a query about it . . . SO, I spun up two skeins,
but only one is still available:

And,
finally, later on Saturday night (I finished these around 10pm!), were
two more skeins of "Turquoise Sands Surprise" Novel-Ply Yarn. I liked
the first skein so much, and since I did still have some of the
remaining fiber from my alchemy request, I decided it would become two
more Novel-Ply skeins. Both are spun thick/thin (merino wool, of
course) and then plied with super soft Angel Hair Yarn. Both are
available now.

So,
I think that is it! Tonight, it is more bamboo and some knitting . . .
tomorrow I hope to venture into some art yarn spinning again . . .
we'll see.
